Privacy

This is a small personal website. It collects as little as it can, and this page tries to describe exactly what that means rather than repeat the usual reassurances.

What the site itself stores

Nothing. There is no account, no login, no newsletter, and no comment system. The pages are static files.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-1G5FKYL0R4) to see roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. IP anonymisation is enabled. Analytics is loaded on the live site only.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and Google acts as a separate data processor with its own policies.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the analytics script is not loaded at all — nothing is requested from Google and no cookie is set. You can also block analytics with a content blocker.

There is currently no cookie consent banner on this site. Under UK PECR, analytics cookies normally require consent before they are set, so this is something I intend to change. Until then, if you want to be certain you are not measured, block the domain googletagmanager.com.

The contact form

The contact form is handled by Formspree. When you send a message, your name, email address and message pass through Formspree’s servers and arrive in my email inbox. Formspree stores submissions on its own systems under its own privacy policy.

I use what you send only to reply. It is never sold, and it is not added to any mailing list. Messages are kept in my inbox for as long as the conversation is useful, and deleted on request.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server access logs — including IP addresses — for security and operational purposes, under its own policy.

External links and embeds

Pages sometimes link to other sites, such as YouTube or Instagram. Those services have their own privacy practices, which I have no control over. There are no third-party tracking pixels, advertising networks, or social media widgets embedded in these pages.

Fonts

The two typefaces used here are served from this site’s own domain. No font request goes to a third party.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU you have the right to ask what personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. In practice the only personal data I am likely to hold is an email conversation you started.

To ask for anything to be deleted, email contactembracingauthenticity@gmail.com. I will confirm when it is done.

If you are unhappy with how a request is handled, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
